TANGLA: At a time when various temples and places of religious importance have received grant from the government under various schemes, a temple in Paneri Bagicha area of Udalguri district built way back in 1991, which is in a dilapidated condition, is crying for renovation.

The temple complex is dedicated to all the Hindu gods and goddesses. According to reports, the temple was built by a medical practitioner, Ranjit Paul with his hard-earned money. It is now lying in a dilapidated condition as it has not undergone timely renovation. "Devotees from length and breadth of Assam, including Guwahati, Tezpur, Mangaldai, Barpeta and Dibrugarh visit the temple every year during this season but this time due to the pandemic there are no visitors," said a local resident, Sukumar Sutradhar.

"The stucco sculptures and ornamental designs on the superstructures have peeled off, cracks and crevices have developed and vegetation has grown all over. The temple calls for early restoration and I urge Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to visit the temple and make necessary arrangements for its restoration," he added.
