TANGLA: Villagers of a couple of villages in Udalguri, including Bhuyankhat, Kahibari and Pachkiya have taken initiatives to barricades their villages and isolate themselves after Prime Minister Modi announced a nationwide lockdown to fight coronavirus. The villagers have put up self-made barricades across the periphery to lock themselves in. To strictly enforce the lockdown, village youths are patrolling in groups. They are neither allowing anybody in nor permitting anybody to go out. The youth have vowed to stay in lockdown despite the adverse situation. Plastered along the barricade are posters announcing no entry and other precautions regarding coronavirus. The banners make it amply clear that no outsiders will be allowed.

“At this time, no outsiders can come in and we don’t want our residents to go out,” said Kaustav Sarmah, a villager of Bhuyankhat.
