KOKRAJHAR: The 15th annual conference of South Kamrup district committee of the ABSU was held at Bhogdabari, Boko in Kamrup on Sunday. Minister UG Brahma while attending the programme appealed to all Bodo people of the area to learn Bodo language. He said to live with identity and dignity, one must know and speak its own mother language. He recalled the role and contributions of Bodofa UN Brahma for the area and the entire region who sacrificed for the Bodos and other down-trodden communities of Assam. He also said the ABSU played major role for survival of Bodo community as the union not only launched movement for a separate State but it also reformed the society and united the community through struggle.

In his speech, the EM of BKWAC and in-charge of Education, Anil Basumatary lauded the role of ABSU for re-construction and establishing the Bodos as a great race in the world. He hoped that the NEP, 2020 on Bodo medium education will be beneficial. He also said the future of the Bodos under BKWAC political arrangement would be bright. He further said the all- round growth and development of the Bodos which fall under BKWAC area would be possible very soon. He thanked the government of Assam led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking bold initiative to notify the constituencies of BKWAC and hoped that the election to the council would be held soon after the final notification of constituencies and villages are over. The open meeting was also attended by the president of the ABSU Dipen Boro and leaders of different organizations.
