Naharkatia: Continuing the disarray of ULFA (I) cadres, self-styled corporal Dawol Jyoti Dutta alias Dior Asom, resident of Noborah, Jorhat, surrendered before the joint team of Army and Police at Joypur Army Camp on Wednesday.

The cadre surrendered a Chinese-made pistol and four rounds live ammunition. On preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that he joined the outfit in March 2017 and was an influential member of the proscribed ULFA(I) and was working as PSO of self-styled brigadier Dhrishti Rajkhowa alias Alex Rabha before he was apprehended by Jorhat Police in November, 2018. He re-joined the outfit in July, 2019 after he was released on bail.

The cadre was trained in one of the jungles bordering Meghalaya and Bangladesh for three months. His area of operation was in districts of Meghalaya bordering Bangladesh and lower Assam districts like Goalpara, Dhubri and Nalbari. The cadre was later handed over to Joypur Police for further investigation.
