Undercover Agent Of Assam Police Detained By ULFA-I At Myanmar Camp

Guwahati: The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) detected an undercover agent of Assam police on April 26. The insurgent group has detained the secret agent at its camp in Myanmar.

The Assam police agent has been identified as Sanjeev Sarma and he hails from Muktapur in Baihata Chariali.

The ULFA-I has issued a press statement where it stated that Sanjeev Sarma, who recently joined the ranks of the banned militant outfit, happens to be a spy of the Assam police. 

The statement further went on to say that the Indian Army and the Assam police sent him to infiltrate the insurgent group as an undercover agent and gather crucial intelligence. 

As per reports, the reason behind Sanjeev undertaking this daring task was sheer vengeance. In a video message, Sanjeev informed that Kamrup SP Partha Sarathi Mahanta and army official Dhunumoni Saikia provided him training and thereafter sent him to ULFA.

He revealed that he was instructed to gather crucial insights such as the whereabouts of the camp. He also disclosed that he would be rewarded with a hefty sum of Rs.1 crore by the SP and the army officials for gathering the information.

Furthermore, he said that he worked in several missions for the Army as well as the police before joining the ULFA-I for which he was paid Rs.10,000 and 20,000 in two missions respectively.

He concluded by saying that he was asked to deny the fact that he was an undercover agent if he gets caught. A secret password was given to him and was asked to utter the password if he gets busted. 7896 is the password which was given to him.
