GUWAHATI: A question that pricks the conscience of every right-thinking person in the state is: if graduate and postgraduate candidates take grade IV posts requiring educational qualifications from Class VIII to Class XII, where will these undergraduates and under-matriculates get service?

According to a section of aggrieved candidates, the bulk of the over 14,000 grade IV posts that were selected for appointment recently are highly educated.

Speaking to The Sentinel, state-level recruitment commission for grade IV posts chairman Dr. B. Kalyan Chakvarthy said, "If anybody has got a job by submitting misleading information regarding educational qualification, the government will verify that if it receives any complaints from any quarters. If anyone is found guilty, the government will take action as per the norms. We will provide provisional appointment letters to the successful candidates now and see if there are any anomalies regarding educational qualifications before regularization of their posts."

Chakvarthy further said, "The randomization and allocation of the departments for the successful candidates for grade IV posts was completed today in the presence of observers."

With the number of unemployed youths rising fast in the state, the registered unemployed number is around 12 lakh, and in most cases, even postgraduate candidates apply for grade IV posts. Such highly qualified candidates outperform the under-matriculates and undergraduates who are target candidates for such posts. Over 50 percent of the unemployed in the state are undergraduates. This situation should prompt the government to devise a way out to ensure the grade IV posts go to the target candidates instead of candidates with higher qualifications.
