MORIGAON: Union Minister of State for Food Processing, Rameswar Teli on Monday visited Amlighat, Jagiroad in Morigaon district. The minister inspected the office of the Sitajakhala Dugdha Utpadak Samabai Samiti Ltd (SDUSS).

Later, Teli took part in a meeting organized by the chairman of the SDUSS, Ranjib Sarma. In the meeting, the minister discussed how SDUSS could be brought out of the crisis that it was facing. He assured the organization that the Central Government had taken initiative for developing the Sitajakhala Milk Cooperative Society under a scheme which was facing huge loss due to the restrictions imposed by the State Government for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister also announced that as directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government would invest Rs.600 crore for the development of the small and big food industries as these industries were facing huge loss due to the pandemic.

With the aim to setting up small industries for food processing in 33 districts of Assam, including the Mega Food Park, Nalbari district, the Central Government has announced a special package for the industries.
