DEMOW: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has hit the campaign trail for bye-polls in Assam to be held on October 30 and addressed various election rallies under the Thowra LAC in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sushanta Borgohain. The Union Minister addressed meetings at Bam Rajabari, Nangolamara and Khorahat Tea Estate under Thowra constituency.
Addressing the crowd, the Union Minister stated that the Bor Asom, built by the ideals of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha and Gurujona Srimanta Sankardev have resulted in harmony and peace becoming the strength of the greater Assamese community. "We have to carry forward the ideals of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha and with the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas, together make India the greatest country under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji," the Minister said.
"The double engine BJP government at the Centre and State is taking along everyone on the path of development and bringing progress to all. Today, the greater Assamese community is no longer backward. Led by CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has taken the pledge to establish itself as one of the top five States in the country," the Minister added.
The Union Minister said that in seven years, PM Narendra Modi has overturned decades of mis-governance of Congress and brought good governance. "Congress could not provide rights of Mati, Bheti & Jati to the people of Assam. Funds of beneficiaries were usurped by middlemen during Congress days. Now, under PM Modi ji, with Digital India and DBT, all beneficiaries receive their fund directly- the real proof of good governance," the Minister said. "The people of Thowra believe in the ideals of brotherhood and harmony and are very culturally conscious. I urge all to vote for BJP candidate Sushanta Borgohain and bring fast development in the constituency," he added.
Union MoS Rameswar Teli,Ministers Bimal Bora, Jogen Mohan, MPs Pradan Baruah, Queen Oja, Bhubaneswar Kalita and other dignitaries were present in the meetings.
