KOKRAJHAR: United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) on Monday expressed its hope that the Government of Assam will introduce the bill for proposed Boro Kachari Autonomous Council (BKAC) during the State assembly session slated for August 31 next.

Talking to this correspondent, the president of the UBPO-Mihiniswar Basumatary said the organization had high hopes for bringing up the bill for the creation of BKAC as per clause 5.1 of BTR accord signed on January 27 last. He said the BJP led State Government had promised to create the BKAC as soon as possible. He also said the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had assured them to implement the clause of BTR accord for formation of BKAC and said that the thing would be reality as per their commitment. He also said the BKAC would be formed for the socio-economic, cultural and linguistic development as well as rapid infrastructure development of Boro Kachari people living outside existing BTC. He further said they had faith on both Sonowal and Sarma as they took bold initiative to fulfill the aspirations of the Boro Kachari people.

Basumatary expressed deep concern over the political clashes that happened in BTC area taking the 4th BTC polls. He said all political parties should avoid clashes, confrontation between each other but should respect the people's mandate. He called upon the Bodo political rivalries to soften their anger between each other and urged them to be united for the greater interest of the society. He also said time had still there to unite and stand together, fight together to defeat other parties.
