KOKRAJHAR: United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) on Friday took out a grand bike rally to mark the celebration of peace in BTC. The bike rally started from Green Field of BTC Secretariat and moved via RN Brahma Road and Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road connecting Kargami, Habrubari, Mwiderkhoro, Maldangpara, Titaguri, Dsbargaon, Tinali, Karigaon, Samthaibari, Kashikotra and to Alariswrang Premsing Brahma Memorial Stadium at Kajalgaon in Chirang district where a grand public meeting was held.

The Minister of Bodoland Welfare, Handloom and Textile and Soil Conservation UB Brahma flagged off the bike rally where CEM of BTC and president of UPPL Pramod Boro, general secretary Raju Kr. Narzary, MLAs and EMs of BTC joined the bike rally. Huge supporters of UPPL joined the grand bike rally.

Talking to media persons, the president of UPPL and CEM of BTC Pramod Boro said the bike rally was brought out to mark peace among all sections of people in the region. He said after BTR accord, peace has returned in BTC for which the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma should be hailed. Nowadays the people of BTC do not talk about security problem, safety of life and properties other than development and different issues because everyone can move freely without any fear in BTC after UPPL, BJP and GSP coalition government came to power in BTC, he said adding that people of the region had nothing to worry on security as peace has prevailed in the region. He, however, called upon all to uphold the peace and harmony to sustain permanent peace in the region.

Minister UG Brahma said BPF was part of NDA in the last assembly and Rajya Sabha election but there was lack of seriousness on their part with NDA. He said the invitation of BPF from NDA high command as claimed by BPF was not for alliance but could be for informal talks to ask them to support NDA. He also said there was nothing to fear BPF although they are trying to forge an alliance with either Congress or AIUDF as they had such alliance in the past but the result was not as expected. He further said UPPL will capture Kokrajhar seat and there is no doubt.

Replying to queries, Brahma said there was no constituency for UPPL to field candidate other than Kokrajhar ST seat and thus Kokrajhar seat would be given to UPPL candidate to contest with the support of BJP and its allies. He also said if candidate of UPPL and BJP and its allies lose Kokrajhar seat to others than it is clear that some third party has been working to defeat Mitrajath.
