KOKRAJHAR: A grand rally for peace and progress was organized by the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) in Kokrajhar town to show public solidarity with the government of BTR led by UPPL. Several thousands of people from all communities joined the grand rally.
Before the start of the rally, a huge public gathering was held at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar where top leaders of the party, minister, MLAs, EMs and MCLAs of BTC took part.
Addressing the public gathering, the CEM of BTC and president of UPPL, Pramod Boro said permanent peace had returned in the region and the fear psychosis in the minds of the people had gone and now everyone could move freely anywhere. He said there had been killings, violence, domination and mistrust among all and people could not move around in Kokrajhar town due to fear psychosis. The UPPL-led government in BTR is the people’s government as it takes care of the grievances of the people, giving equal rights and justice, he said, adding that during the BPF’s tenure only a section of Hagrana Mohilary loyals enjoyed privileges while general masses were not given any chance.
“We are rectifying the misdeeds of the BPF led by Hagrama Mohilary,” he said and added that there had been massive corruption during the rule of the BPF but now no one had to pay a single penny for getting appointment. He also said that the UPPL-led government had undertaken various comprehensive policies on education, agriculture, health, sericulture, land etc.
Minister and founder president of UPPL, UG Brahma said that the birth of UPPL brought new change in BTC. He said that peace had returned in BTR. The public gathering was also addressed by BTC EM Wilson Hasda and vice president and former MCLA Abjal Hoque Sarkar.
The grand rally started from the Green Field and moved ahead connecting Shantinagar, Circuit House via JD Road, Bhattarmari, Don Bosco and came to an end in the BTC Secretariat field. As many as 34 ABSU leaders of various Anchalik committees and some notable individuals joined the UPPL today. UPPL president Promod Boro felicitated them with traditional Aronai.
