KOKRAJHAR: The 7th foundation day celebration of the ruling United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), which began on Thursday, concluded on Friday with various programmes across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts

Notably, the UPPL party was founded on August 5, 2015 at Dotma Rongjashali in Kokrajhar district with the presidentship Urkhao Gwra Brahma (now Assam cabinet minister) and since then rendered services towards the welfare and integration of all sections of the society across the region.

As part of the first day of the foundation day celebration, a massive tree plantation drive was carried out in the Bodoland Territorial Region districts to mark the celebration of the marvelous journey of seven years of the UPPL party. More than 5 lakh saplings were planted across BTR by UPPL workers and members on Friday in all district headquarters, block level and primary committees in the region and 5 lakh more trees would be planted within the few days.

UPPL president and BTC CEM Pramod Boro joined hands in a tree plantation drive organized at Souraguri LP School in Tamulpur and planted saplings along with other party members in the presence of school students. Boro extended his congratulations and greetings to all citizens of the region on the occasion of the 7th foundation day of the UPPL party.

He said that the UPPL was fully committed to work for the welfare and uplift of all, cutting across the caste, creed and communities. He informed that UPPL planned to plant nearly 10 lakh trees across the region for a green and healthy environment.

In Kokrajhar, a plantation drive was carried out on Friday in connection with the foundation day celebration of UPPL party and a huge number of saplings were planted at Chandrapara ME School playground in Kokrajhar. Bodoland Territorial Council executive member and UPPL general secretary, Dr Nilut Swargiary, Kokrajhar district committee, BJP president Raj Kumar Brahma, in presence of Raju Kumar Narzary, UPPL general secretary, planted saplings.

The central committee of UPPL organized the foundation day celebration in association with Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL here at Chandrapara ME School playground in Kokrajhar. In Gossaigaon, a tree plantation programme was organized by Raimona primary committee of UPPL under the leadership of Saraibil block committee, UPPL, which was taken up on the directions of the central committee and guided by the Gossaigaon district committee. UPPL central committee organizing secretary, Murshida Begum, UPPL youth wing president, Somnath Narzary; TCLCC vice chairman Ranjan Basumatary and UPPL party workers were present on the occasion.

Chirang district committee of UPPL also planted saplings at various places in the district while Bijni district committee of UPPL carried out tree plantation programme at South Gargaon village where several hundred saplings were planted.

The Mushalpur district committee of the UPPL party carried out a tree plantation drive at Daragaon under Dihira block, which was jointly organized by Mushalpur district committee and Dihira block committee of UPPL. UPPL president and BTC CEM Pramod Boro hoisted the party flag on Friday morning while founder president of UPPL party and Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma offered homage to martyrs followed by a friendly football match, tug of war competition among the women, a get-together programme among the party leaders and workers and cultural evening on the occasion.
