LAKHIMPUR: The unruly attitude of a section of COVID-19 patients in Lakhimpur district has turned into a matter of deep concern of late. This section of patients has shown their disapproval towards adhering to the quarantine norms and guidelines at the Dedicated COVID Health Centre (DCHC) set up at Telahi Model Hospital.

A total of 44 COVID-19 patients have been under treatment in the DCHC since May 25. Out of them, a section of such patients allegedly argues with the attending doctors and other medical personnel for minor reasons. They have harassed them demanding supply of gutka and tobacco in the DCHC. It is alleged that they adamantly come out of their quarantined rooms despite repeated requests made by the doctors appealing to them not to do so.

As per report, a section of such patients was seen loitering inside the hospital violating the principle of containment and without wearing masks. Such unruly behaviour of these patients has caused threat to the health of the attending medical personnel and the neighbouring people of the area where the DCHC is located. In this regard, necessary action to control the unruly patients by the district administration for the greater interest of human health and to prevent the further spread of the pandemic has become inevitable.
