SILCHAR: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the BJP's poster boy of Hindutva, is reaching here by special chartered flight on Tuesday to address public rallies at Silchar, Haticherra and Lakhipur to add grist to the poll campaign of the saffron party. Yogi Adityanath, known for his oratory and impressive arguments, will help in consolidation of Hindu votes. The candidates of Silchar, Deepayan Chakraborty, Borkhola, Manmoy Das of Borkhola and Kaushik Rai of Lakhipur are faced with challenge from Congress-AIUDF combine though Badruddin Ajmal's party has not set up its candidate from any of the constituency.

Yet, the challenge is formidable on Silchar seat due to the rebel candidate of the party, Dilip Paul making desperate attempt to win back large chunk of Hindu votes which if happens will create hurdle on the path of victory of Deepayan Chakraborty. Adityanath is expected to put a lid on the split in Hindu votes. That of course depends on how voters react to the persuasive speech of Yogi.

On the whole, BJP which is trying to retain all the 7 seats of Cachar has drawn up a list of national star campaigners. Till now MP Manoj Tiwari has campaigned in tea belts of Cachar and both Borkhola and Lakhipur have substantial number of tea garden voters. The Congress with the AIUDF, on the other hand, is trying to consolidate Muslim voters. The battle this time will be tough for the BJP due to the Congress-AIUDF alliance. Once Badruddin Ajmal, Chief of AIUDF, steps in and campaigns for the alliance, it will definitely provide an edge to it to beat the BJP on its home turf.
