GUWAHATI: Post-mortem report of a 13-year-old girl Dimple Kumawat, resident of Uzan Bazar states that the girl was stabbed fourteen times in different parts of her body.
In this sensational Uzan Bazar murder case, the accused her cousin, Ashik Gupta has admitted he killed her over an argument over consuming a cigarette.
The post-mortem report says the girl's death was due to a brain haemorrhage that occurred due to multiple brain injuries. It was revealed that the injuries were inflicted by a knife. Along with the knife l, a pressure cooker and a 'Pota guti' (a kitchen tool used for grinding) was also used.
The accused Ashik Gupta had also hid the girl's mobile phone and SIM card which was later recovered by the police after Gupta took the police to the spot.
Gupta is now in Central jail, Guwahati as per the latest reports.
The victim has been identified as Dimple Kumawat – a Class-VII student of an English-medium school in the city. She was alone in the house as her parents – Ashok Kumawat (father) and Anjali Kumawat (mother)– had proceeded like other days to run their fast food joint in the area. The mutilated body was first discovered by her aunt at around noon.
Immediately, she raised a hue and cry, following which the neighbours moved in. They then informed the police over the phone. High-level police officials, along with the dog squad, personnel of the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) and also forensic experts reached the spot and started investigation.
Police then launched an investigation into the sensational murder of the girl and arrested her cousin brother Ashik Gupta on September 3. Police sources revealed that Ashik confessed to killing her sister following a quarrel between them over cigarette consumption.
