TINSUKIA: With people of 45+ age group making a mad rush for vaccination, queuing up in front of vaccination centres every morning, the two vaccination centres in Tinsukia town, namely Tinsukia Urban PHC located within Joint DHS complex and ASHA Griha near Civil Hospital, have become the places of potential COVID threat as people were seen to be gossiping and not maintaining any social distancing.

The conscious people standing in the queue are apprehensive that the virus may infect more people unless the department concerned fails to address the situation.

On Thursday, people started queuing since morning immediately after lifting of curfew. By 8.30 am the number swelled to nearly 300 when issue of token was supposed to begin. A health official by then informed the gathering that there would be no vaccination. The aggrieved people opined that the Health Department ought to have notified the non-availability of vaccine the previous day. They also suggested that the number of vaccination centres should be increased to minimize congestion.
