Various activities to mark World Hearing Day programme

GOLAGHAT: To commemorate the World Hearing Day (WHD) on March 3, Golaghat District Health Department under the banner of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD), Golaghat will mark the event as National Hearing Awareness Campaign (NHAC) along with rest of the country. In this context, various activities like awareness rally, quiz competition among the students, screening camps and gram sabhas at panchayat level will be organized for awareness generation among the public on hearing care/ preservation.

Speaking on the minacity of hearing loss in the country, Dr. Partha Gohain, DNO, NPPCD, Golaghat reflected the WHO study which said that 6.3 per cent of the total Indian population was affected by hearing loss, thus imparting a big socio-economic burden to the country and hence he urged all to be a part of this hearing awareness campaign to make it possible for the future generation to hear better.
