Victim Dr Deben Dutta's Family Welcomes State Government Decision

JORHAT: Following the State government direction for Fast Track Court to book all culprits involved in killing of Teok Tea Estate senior medical officer Dr Deben Dutta on August 31, following which the State government has asked the Commissioner and Secretary Finance, Government of Assam Shyam Jaganathan to enquire into the incident as fear looming large over giving charge to a biased administrative officer who might leave the episode to a u-turn as alleged by victim’s family members and welcomed the government’s decision over passing to Fast Track Court, said sources here.

The doctors fraternity from the country is on boil over the incident that ever took place in the history of the tea industry. Various police personnel have been under high pressure to interrogate and investigate from freshly picked up suspected culprits from the labour line from Teok Tea Estate which still continues to be tense. Security forces in civil dress have been pressed into service since August 31 as the lockout of the Teok Tea Estate, owned by amalgamated Tata Tea Plantation Pvt. Ltd continues for the sixth day on Friday. The investigating agencies have tracked down over 35 culprits and are about to identify the real ones to free the medical fraternity of the industry from the prevailing apprehensive situation.

Former Assam Chief minister Tarun Gogoi , Asom Sahitya Sabhya President Dr. Paramananda Rajbonshi, Koliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi, Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi were among VIPs who visited on Friday to the brewed family members and condole them after the visit of a high level Indian Medical Association four member team on Wednesday last to the slain doctor resident at his Teok Jagduar resident and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul who was kind enough to serve free to the poor in and around the area of Teok.
