TEZPUR: The Victory flame of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, commemorating the 50th-anniversary celebrations of India's victory in 1971 war, was brought to Air Force Station Tezpur on September 10, where it was received by Air Commodore DS Dangi VM, Air Officer Commanding in a felicitation ceremony attended by revered veterans and distinguished guests both from the civil and the armed forces fraternity.
The flame was carried to the main venue along the road flanked by air warriors and enthusiastic school children waving the Indian tricolor with pride and honour. Later, families of the air warriors and local village heads also visited the venue to pay their homage and respects to the fallen soldiers.
The day-long event included wreath-laying at the Station War Memorial followed by a lecture on 1971 Air Campaign and screening of a documentary movie on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. A static display of the aircraft was also organised on the occasion. At the end of the event, the Victory flame was handed over to the Army unit in Phulbari.
