GUWAHATI: Ajanta Neog, the Assam Finance Minister, stated during the presentation of the state budget that every village should observe Village Foundation Day in order to invigorate community spirit and foster a sense of belonging.
"This occasion will provide a chance to discuss a shared vision and plan for the community in accordance with regional developmental demands."
According to Neog, each town would get a symbolic gift of Rs 5000 to commemorate this foundation day. The Finance Minister added that the government was able to raise the revenue of the state's farmers through the purchase of paddy.
The Assam Government has proposed a policy for Atma Nirbhar Krishi in support of this initiative, which calls for the procurement of millets and mustard from state farmers at a fair price through the Agriculture Marketing Board and Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd, which is funded by CMSGUY.
“Under Swanirbhar Nari, handloom textile procurement will continue. We intend to increase the amount of government supplies purchased from villages”, Neog mentioned.
In a bid to resolve the state's protracted financial problems and mark 200 years of Assam Tea, the Assam government has allocated roughly Rs 550 crore for the state's tea business. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog stated that the Assam Tea Industry Special Incentives Plan will also be improved to provide relief to tea workers when presenting the state budget.
The Finance Minister announced that road shows will also be held all throughout the nation to promote Assam Tea as a brand. "The growth of the labour lines' infrastructure, particularly the construction of roads, will receive significant attention. This year, the government will waive all past-due power charges for tea garden worker families living in the lines as a special alleviation. I'll set aside Rs. 150 crore for it," she also remarked.
