Vishwa Hindu Parishad celebrates Janmashtami with day-long programme at Dhekiajuli

Dhekiajuli: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP), Dhekiajuli unit celebrated Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Friday with a day-long programme at the Nagar Nimna Buniadi Vidyalay Dhekiajuli. The day-long programme for celebrating Janmashtami began at 6.30 am on Friday with recitation of Bhagavad Gita. Bipin Chandra Sharma a social worker of Dhekiajuli hoisted the dhwaj. Thereafter artists of Bhanujyoti Sangha and a group of students from Bahagi Borah Jatiya Vidyalaya performed Naam Kirtan which created spiritual atmosphere at the venue. Sri Krishna Costume contest was held with a large number of contestants. In the evening an open session was held for distribution of prizes which was presided over by the president organizing committee Dipen Nath, active activists of VHP northern Assam Kumud Borthakur spoke on the occasion and explained the philosophy of Lord Krishna.

The open session was attended by several distinguished persons of Dhekiajuli and prominent among them were Munindra Das, Bibek Borah, Girnidra Sharma, Gopal Mishra among others. Krishna Janmashtami celebration was also held at ISKON Dhekiajuli on Friday. Krishna Janmashtami would be observed today also at ISKON, Dhekiajuli. On Saturday an art and quiz completion would be held in the morning at the ISKON Dhekiajuli premises among the school children. Devotees thronged ISKON temple and the Nagar Nimna Buniadi Vidyalay campus, Dhekiajuli to celebrate Janmashtami and to seek blessings of Lord Sri Krishna. Numerous people were engaged in various culinary activities at the ISKON Dhekiajuli campus on Friday.
