NAGAON: Nagaon district body of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday observed its 58th foundation day and also celebrated Sri Sri Krishna Janmashtami here at Nagaon Krishnasram Siva temple campus with a day-long programme.

The programme was initiated with the unfurling of the 'Dharmadharja' by Pradeep Kumar Bora, president of district committee of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, in the morning following which a religious procession on motorcycles by carrying the holy book Maha Bhagawat was also taken out throughout the small town. The religious rally was ceremonially flagged off by Rekha Sarma, an octogenarian and former dedicated activist of VHP. Thousands of VHP members from the district participated in the religious procession.

A religious meeting was also organized later at the Nagaon Krishnasram Siva temple campus. Devananda Deb Goswami, Xatradhikar, Sri Sri Naruwa Xatra, Batadroba was present in the meeting as the chief guest while Brajajyoti Sarma, joint secretary, VHP, north-eastern region, graced the occasion as a special analyzer of the topic
