War against COVID-19: Rima Das donates Rs. 1 lakhs towards Assam Government

Guwahati : In a benevolence, celebrated filmmaker and pride of Assam, Rima Das has donated Rs. 1, 0,1000 towards the Assam Arogya Nidhi, opened by the state government to help the poor and economically unsound people during the ongoing nationwide lockdown, which ends on April 14, 2020. Revealing this, Das has said in a Facebook update that she donated the money to help the government to mitigate the economic crisis created by the novel coronavirus pandemic. "Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been relentlessly trying hard to mitigate the unprecedented crisis. I am wishing success to the Government of Assam, which under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has been trying hard to tackle the crisis. I have donated Rs. 1 lakh and 1 thousand to the Arjgya Nidhi", Das said in the post. Her "Village Rocksters" was Indian nomination for the Oscar in 2018. Earlier on today, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed the state government employees to take care of at least five families each during the lockdown. It has been reported that the lockdown, imposed by the Union government to check the spread of novel coronavirus has hit hard the poor including daily wage-earners. Meanwhile, the coronavirus positive cases in the country spiked to more than three thousand and more than 70 people lost their lives in the battle against the pandemic. In Assam, 25 people have tested COVID-19 positive, so far.
