KOKRAJHAR: Arguments and counter-arguments between the general secretary of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), Raju Kr. Narzary and BJP EM Arup Kr. Dey continues. The latter has asked Narzary to concentrate on the matters of UPPL but not on the affairs of BJP. The war of words between the leaders of UPPL and BJP has exposed the internal rift in the alliance.
Talking to a section of media persons, EM Dey said UPPL general secretary Raju Kr. Narzary had nothing to do in the matters of BJP. He said, “I am from BJP. I won the election as BJP representative and became EM. Being a responsible member of BJP, I must pay heed to the party’s matters and what I said before the media persons in Udalguri two days ago was a matter of the BJP, not a government programme of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).”
He said he had to give priority to party affairs as he was representing BJP and thus UPPL general secretary Raju Kr. Narzary should concentrate on his party matters and not dictate to him what he should do for the welfare of people of the region. He also said that Narzary should work for UPPL to strengthen the party’s base at the grassroots.
EM Arup Kr. Dey in an interaction with media persons on Friday in Udalguri claimed that the BJP could form government in BTR within seconds after siding the UPPL. Dey said the BJP was keeping patient as the party was part of a coalition government in BTR. He also said the BJP was in alliance with UPPL just to run the council government but not in political circle.
The general secretary of UPPL, Raju Kr Narzary on Saturday hit back at Dey in Kokrajhar. He said it was unfortunate that a responsible EM of BTC had made such comments. Reacting to his comments, Narzary said the Pramod Boro-led council government in BTR was going on in the right direction by taking up various transformative agenda. He also said that Dey should focus on the development of his Health department instead of bringing politics of hatred as BTC CEM Pramod Boro was working for the development of all in BTR. Narzary said that the UPPL-led coalition would continue till 2025 and beyond.
