GUWAHATI: Dressed in a red saree, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was seen interacting with the tea estate workers of Biswanath in Assam and also tried plucking leaves.

In a tweet from the national party, it mentioned, "Smt. @priyankagandhi joins tea workers at Sadhuru tea garden and tries her hand at plucking tea leaves."

Earlier on Monday, the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra blew the poll bugle for the Assam Legislative Assembly election in favour of the Congress-led 'Mahajoot' from Lakhimpur.

Attending a protest rally initiated in North Lakhimpur to slam the alleged failure of the BJP-led State Government in fulfilling its pre-poll promise to provide employment to 25 lakh unemployed youths of the State during its last five-year tenure, the AICC general secretary appealed to the people to vote for the Congress-led 'Mahajoot'.

"Identify the genuine leaders of the public and also identify the political leaders who only make promises while campaigning just before the elections. If you cannot identify them, you cannot change your future. The political leaders who promised to provide employment to 25 lakh unemployed youths in five years — five lakh each year — could not provide employment to more than 80,000 people after five years. So, you identify the leaders who have come to you with false promises at present; and decide who will do the good for you", added Priyanka Gandhi.

Before proceeding to the protest in Lakhimpur, Vadra visited the Kamakhya Temple and offered prayers on behalf of the Congress party. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora, MP Gaurav Gogoi, among other party leaders were present during the visit. Earlier, she had received a warm welcome at the LGBI Aiport on Monday morning.

On March 2, she will also visit the birthplace of Shri Shri Madhadev at Letekupukhri under No. 109 Bihpuria LAC of the district and address a public rally there. Then she will depart to Gohpur of Biswanath district and take part in various public programmes organized in the district.
