Waxed Apple Controversy: Golaghat DC orders probe

GOLAGHAT: The Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat Gourav Bothra issued an order on Friday to inquire and submit its report on the sale of waxed apples in the town. According to a report, the waxed apple controversy had hit the town when a person purchased apples from a vendor and he discovered a waxy kind chemical substance on the apples. It has been alleged that some agencies are using a kind of chemical substance to make the apples look fresh for a long time.

In this connection, the purchaser had lodged a complaint before the Deputy Commissioner of the district to take necessary measures against apples with chemicals and its sellers. The Deputy Commissioner vide No. GP1/2018/3419 dated August 18 ordered the Food Inspector of and Sub-Inspector of Food and Civil Supply, Golaghat Mriganka Krishna Gogoi to immediately probe the issue and submit a report.
