We want to elect our candidates to eliminate the misunderstanding, trust deficit among the communities: Bodo Movement Group

Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) along with NDFB (P) & PJACBM on Friday appealed the voters not to choose any corrupt and divisive politicians as their candidate for upcoming Lok Sabha Election after 72 years of Independence.

Addressing a press conference, the bodies said, "The Tribal and other ethnic and non-ethnic Indian citizens of BTC region and Assam had witnessed so many unrest situations for political mishandling of some vital issues in the last couple of years by some immature political representatives elected from both the constituencies. Therefore, as Parliament is the highest policy-making Body of the nation we have the responsibility to elect an efficient candidate who understands the democratic values and have obligation towards constitution and people of this region and country as whole who will also adhere for the solution of the various problems and issue of the Tribal and non tribal people of the state."

The Above mentioned Bodo Organizations also stated that Bodo organizations and Bodo community wish that there would be free, fair & peaceful election in every region of the country and particularly in 5 No. Kokrajhar (ST) LS Constituency of Assam.

The organizations also wish that the Election Commission and Administration of the country will effectively maintain the beauty of democracy by ensuring a voting right to every citizen. The Bodo movement group further requests the election commission from both centre and state to make all necessary arrangement beforehand that no anti-social and anti-democratic forces can disturb the democratic process and general election for 17^th Lok Sabha of the country by misusing money and muscle power. Further, requests to take strict action towards those who indulge in violence during the election.

It may be mentioned that the Bodo organizations will support UPPL party and it’s already declared candidates in two constituencies i.e. 1. No 5 Kokrajhar (ST) UG Brahma and 2. No.8 Mangaldoi (Gen) Prodeep Kr. Daimary for many vital reasons and also request people, in general, to support both candidates and elect them with a maximum margin of the vote.

The Bodo Movement Group feels the need of a dynamic, sincere and efficient political leader in both the constituencies to maintain the value base of politics, peaceful coexistence, ensure good governance, proper implementation of central and state-sponsored projects and optimum development in both the constituencies.

Provide security for all sections of people ensures equal right and protection of the identity and culture of Tribal and other ethnic people of BTC & Assam."
