Wearing of face masks and social distancing made compulsory in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: In view of the unprecedented rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and to take measures to prevent its spread in the district, the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Chirang, Gautam Talukdar on Tuesday promulgated an order compelling all persons to wear face mask, observance of social distancing, use of sanitizer, frequent hand washing and other COVID-19 appropriate behavior. The order said that violation of this order would attract imposition of fine to the tune of Rs. 1000 and punishable action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and the Disaster Management Act, 2005. "This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders," the order further said.
