SAPATGRAM: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Sapatgram College, P B College and Mankachar College jointly organized a webinar in association with Assam College Librarians' Association on 'Assessment and Accreditation Process of NAAC in the Revised Accreditation Framework' recently.

Dr. Ganesh A. Hegde, advisor NAAC, and Dr. Ruchi Tripathi, assistant advisor NAAC, joined the programme as resource persons from Bengaluru. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hegde said that the higher education scenario in India due to COVID-19 had come under severe pressure. So the focus should shift from running a good institution to conducting institutions of learning with highest standards in their chosen area.

The social and market forces had also compelled NAAC to reshape its modes of assessment. Considering these factors, he said that use of tools based on information and communication technology was better to avoid any possible bias in judgment. Hence, the revised framework relied heavily on the digital records of everyday activities of higher institutions. He added that securing accreditation was not the duty of the management alone; in fact, the entire academic and local communities must be sensitized to such a need.

While talking to the participants, IQAC Coordinators and Principals, Dr. Ruchi Tripathi put emphasis on documentation and use of ICT for preparing AQARs and SSR. Records supplied to NAAC must resemble similarity and evidence as mismatch invariably leads to fabrication and that may go negative for the institutions.

Earlier, Dr RP Singh, Principal of Sapatgram College, inaugurated the webinar and welcomed everyone. It was well attended by 685 participants across India and beyond through Zoom, WhatsApp and Facebook. Dr. GK Saha, coordinator of IQAC, Sapatgram College, explained the objectives of this webinar and urged upon the experts to highlight some impending activities of Revised Accreditation Framework which could help sustain quality in rural institutions with their limited infrastructure and the faculties.
