MANGALDAI: Amidst COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent global grim scenario, a group of youths of Mangaldai has taken up a praiseworthy initiative to promote Assamese culture and write ups in the digital platform. This group has launched an Assamese website that contains short stories, poems, travelogue, etc. in the name of khiriki.com. Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das launched the website recently through video conferencing.

On the occasion, Actor Pabitra Rabha, appreciated the initiative through a video message. "This platform will surely benefit Assamese people as many writers, young and old would get a platform to write in their mother tongue and this way the next generation will be encouraged to write in Assamese," said Rabha, best known for his role in 'Kanchanjangha'. Danseuse and actress of repute Rupshikha Saloi and actor Mrigendra Narayan Konwar also appreciated the effort and congratulated the team.

Pranabesh Barman, the founder of the website informed that many literature enthusiasts have already forwarded more than 500 articles, short stories and poems from different parts of the State for publishing in the website. "Initially I started with a facebook group (Aponar Khirikire), however, after receiving positive response from all concerned, I thought of a website to contribute to the society in a better way," said Barman who is a Programmer at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Udalguri.

Hengul Jyoti Saloi, Farm Manager, KVK, Darrang, Shekhar Mazumdar, Blood Donor and software Engineer Pranjit Baruah were also present in the launching program.
