Week-long Faculty development programme on use of ICT tools held at Tangla College in Udalguri

TANGLA: In a bid to imbibe various life skills and develop personality and to make faculty members of government colleges adapt to the knowledge of ICT tools, a week-long faculty development programme on ‘Behavioural Remodelling and use of ICT tools for Classroom Delivery of Teachers’ kicked off at Tangla College in Udalguri district from Tuesday.

The event, organized by Electronic and Information and Communication Technology Academy (E & ICT) Academy, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati in association with Tangla College and support of Mantra Associates, Guwahati, witnessed participation of more than 60 faculty members of Tangla College and other neighbouring colleges like Goreswar College, Udalguri College and Mazbat College. The inaugural session chaired by Principal of Tangla College, Dr. Prasen Daimari, was inaugurated by IQAC Co-ordinator of the college, Dr. Gitali Sarma.

In his welcome address, Dr. Asha Basumatari said that such programmes on behavioural remodelling for enhancing classroom delivery of teachers would help in their capacity building and also set a high standard of education. Earlier, Prof.Hemanta Rabha introduced the guests and feted them with an arnai.

Speaking in the programme as a resource person, managing director of Indian Skill Academy and an empanelled member of E & ICT Academy, Anjan Chowdhury observed that statistics of fresh graduates and the unemployment rate was alarming. He said, “Teachers are groups of professionals who love to be hated but interestingly, all professions are born out of a classroom of a teacher.” He exhorted that the teachers must strive for minimizing the communication gap between teacher-student.
