DOOMDOOMA: Terming welfare projects as the life-blood of Rotary, Rotary International District - 3240 (RI Dist. 3240) District Governor (DG) Rotarian Subhasish Chatterjee, who was on an official visit to Rotary Club of Doomdooma on Tuesday, exhorted the members to do more socially relevant projects in order to make Rotary visible and viable by attracting more and more members into its fold. He said that no other global trust except Rotary gave in return more than what one contributed to it.

He was accompanied by Assistant Governor (AG), Zone - 12 Saurav Bajoria and the first lady of the district, Beauty Chatterjee (Pooja). Earlier in the day, DG Subhasish paid a visit to Doomdooma Girls' High School and Rupai High school to inspect the napkin vending machine and incinerator projects for girls during menstruation at school and Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) project in the school installed by Rotary Club of Doomdooma under global grant. On interacting with the teachers and students of Doomdooma Girls' High School, DG Subhasish expressed surprise on knowing that there were no computer instructors in the school and so 10 computers were lying idle for almost 10 years. He, therefore, offered to extend help to the school on behalf of Rotary under global grant project.

In the DG's official visit meeting held thereafter at Dhaba NH-37, Barhapjan with president Rotarian Vikash Agarwal in the chair, one minute silence was observed in memory of former president Rotarian Dr Y. P. Ojha who died on Saturday. After welcome speech of Rotarian Vikash Agarwal, secretary Rotarian Mintu Upadhyay read out the Secretarial report. Former president Rotarian Raj Kumar Agarwal apprised the DG about ongoing global grant projects of the club.
