Widows of freedom fighters felicitated in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI: Circle Officer, Hailakandi, Tridip Roy felicitated five widows of freedom fighters at their homes on the occasion of 78^th anniversary of Quit India Movement on Thursday.

Roy presented Pushpa Rani Biswas, widow of Naresh Chandra Biswas, Sudha Rani Chakraborty, widow of Monomohan Chakraborty, Renu Purkayastha, widow of Dhirendra Chandra Purkayastha, Parul Bala Chakraborty, widow of Mohini Ranjan Chakraborty and Bazanti Das, widow of Saday Gobinda Das with a shawl, a flower bouquet and best wishes on the 78th anniversary of the Quit India Movement also observed as August Kranti Diwas.

Lauding the contribution of the freedom fighters towards freeing the country from the yoke of slavery and giving us the air of freedom, Circle Officer, Roy said their ideals of freedom struggle are an inspiration for the present and future generations. The widows of freedom fighters thanked the district administration for remembering and honouring them on the momentous occasion.
