Barpeta: Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that the people of Assam would vote for a nationalist government in its true sense this year. Nationalist forces would jointly contest all 126 assam constituencies of Assam in the upcoming elections, Gogoi said after attending the felicitation and joining programme of AJP organised in Howly, Barpeta district of Assam on Sunday (January 10).

Speaking to the media Gogoi said, "We will field candidates in all 126 assam seats and 2021 will see nationalist government in the state. Everyone in the state wants nationalist government and it is their inner voice." He said that AJP has been welcomed almost in every part of the state by the people.

Gogoi said that the people of Assam are looking forward to a government which will be able to give them social security and a society which will encourage and support self-employment, entrepreneurship and ensure jobs and development of all communities and tribes of the state.

Commenting on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)s constant assurance that the party would win over 100 seats this time, Gogoi said that they might actually end up scoring a zero in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections which are scheduled to be held around April this year.

He further stated that even nationalist parties have cheated people of Assam and this time true nationalist parties will be voted to power who will work for the all-round development of the people.

As many as hundred leaders from the opposition parties had joined the AJP at felicitation and joining programme.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi who is a former All Assam Student's Union (AASU) joined the newly-floated AJP in December 2020.

The new regional party AJP was launched in September 2020 by All Assam Student Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP).
