GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the state government will soon fulfil the election time promise to give one lakh jobs to the youth of the state while delivering appointment letters to applicants who had recently been hired by various state government ministries.

On Wednesday, the chief minister gave away the appointment letters for 32 employees in the fisheries department and 161 in the veterinary department. Moreover, four letters of appointment were handed to the public health and engineering department employees and thirteen to the enterprises and commerce administration department

Addressing the event, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that boosting and expanding public service in the state's fishery, animal husbandry, and veterinary sectors involves hiring qualified and capable young people.

The Chief Minister also stated that his government is implementing several actions to give these sectors more momentum. He cited fishery, animal husbandry, and veterinary as important sectors that have the potential to accelerate the expansion of the economic standard of the state.

"The government is trying to restructure the department of veterinary medicine and livestock breeding to make it as capable as the department of health and family welfare. More roles for veterinary officials will be created to accommodate the state's cattle population's treatment requirements,” he added.

According to the chief minister, his government is making significant headway towards its objective of giving young people in the state one million government jobs. It was one of the main agendas of the Bharatiya Janta Party in the Assam assembly elections of the year 2021. The state government has been working hard to achieve that number since getting elected in the state although the opposition parties have taken up this topic from time to time regarding the non- completion of this promised target within the mentioned period of one year.
