Guwahati: 3 more COVID-19 related casualties have been reported from Assam late in the evening on Thursday, July 9. With the addition of these 3 deaths, the number of casualties in the state has reached 27.

The deceased have been identified as Bhaben Gogoi (72), a COVID-19 patient with lymphoma who passed away at the AMCH in Dibrugarh; Dhaneswar Seal (68), a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and Tarzuna Begum (38), Covid with diabetes, at MMCH.

Meanwhile, the Assam Government has continued its push to ramp up testing in the state in its bid to break the transmission chain of the dreaded virus. "As we continue our fight against the pandemic there are some milestones that need to be celebrated. I am very proud of my team for having achieved the 5 lakh #COVID19 testing mark today. My compliments to the team of doctors, health department officials, and support staff", Sarma wrote on Twitter, celebrating the feat of successfully completing 5 lakh tests.
