GUWAHATI: A woman along with her three-year-old infant son allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a pond.

The incident took place in the Bajali district of Assam.
The deceased woman, identified as Malabika Deka (30), reportedly committed suicide following an altercation with her husband over some family issues.
As per reports, the husband is a constable, ITBP posted in Uttarakhand.
Later, after hearing the incident SDRF recovered the mother-son duo from the pond, located at Naginipar area under Sarupeta Police Out Post in the district.
Meanwhile, the family members of the woman have lodged an FIR against the husband.
Earlier, residents of Kokrajhar woke up with awe and shock as the body of a local businessman was recovered near the Gaurang River. Following the incident, a sensation prevailed in Kokrajhar town as the recovery of the body of a businessman shocked everyone.
According to preliminary investigation, police are saying that the matter could be suspected as a case of suicide. As per reports, the deceased has been identified as one Biswajit Paul aged about 50 years, and his lifeless body was found hanging from a tree on the bank of the river Gaurang.
The family members of the deceased said that Paul was in his home till 9 am today. Interestingly, after some while, his body was recovered under such suspicious conditions. In the meanwhile, the local police have already sent deceased Biswajit Paul's body for post-mortem and launched an investigation of the incident. It may be mentioned that he was a resident of the Shanti Nagar area of Kokrajhar town.
Police further added that the cause of his alleged suicide is yet to come to light as they are ascertaining all angles into the matter. The bereaved family of Paul, while talking to media said they are equally confused as though Paul was under some pressure for facing losses in his business due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, but they do not believe that he would take such a drastic step, ending his life like this.
