A woman identified as Purnima Barman, resident of Padum Nagar, Dibrugarh has been missing. It is suspected that the woman might have committed suicide as her leather sandal was recovered from Bogibeel bridge in Dibrugarh on Friday.

DIBRUGARH: A woman identified as Purnima Barman, resident of Padum Nagar, Dibrugarh has been missing. It is suspected that the woman might have committed suicide as her leather sandal was recovered from Bogibeel bridge in Dibrugarh on Friday.It has been speculated that the woman leaped from the bridge into the Brahmaputra river. Police have launched a search operation in the Bogibeel bridge.

According to police, on Friday Purnima Barma along with her daughter-in-law visited Amolapatty area but suddenly she told her daughter-in-law that she is returning back home. “When Purnima Barman didn’t return home, her son registered a complaint and a search operation was launched. Our police team later found a leather sandal from the Bogibeel bridge. We suspected that she jumped off the bridge,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, SDRF has launched a search operation but they didn’t find anything. A missing compliant was filed at Gabrupathar Police Station.
