Workshop on awareness and prevention of TB held in Dhubri

DHUBRI: A virtual workshop was held to sensitize media persons of the State and apprise them on the ongoing NTEP (National TB Elimination Programme). In Dhubri, the workshop was held in the premises of Dhubri Chest Hospital on Monday.

The workshop was centrally organized in Guwahati by the State TB Cell in collaboration with Guwahati Press Club and was virtually transmitted to all the DTCs (District TB Centres). An elite panel of media persons spoke on the occasion with presentations. Additional Director of Health Services (SP)-cum-SPO, NTEP, Assam, Dr. DJ Deka, Regional Team Lead, WHO, also spoke on the occasion.

Various aspects of NTEP were discussed which included awareness of the masses, increased case referral, problems of TB burden in India, TB prevention methods, treatment and prevention of MDR TB, social and monetary support to the TB patients, role of media persons and reporting methods. Altogether 28 journalists attended the workshop.
