GOALPARA: The valedictory programme of the three-month long 'Competitive Exams Preparatory Workshop' organized by Career Counseling and Guidance Cell, Goalpara College concluded on Wednesday. The programme was graced by Dibakar Nath, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Goalpara.

Speaking on the occasion, Dibakar Nath urged the students to be committed and consistent in their approach while preparing for Civil Services exams. Altogether 45 aspirant students successfully completed the course. After conducting a test, certificates of participation were handed over to them.

Dr. Subhash Barman, Principal, Goalpara College, while delivering his welcome speech, asked the students to work hard to achieve their desired goal in this competitive world. "This has been my dream project and I am always ready to walk the extra mile to explore the potentiality of my students," said Dr. Barman.

The main objective of the workshop was to grow interest among students in Civil Services as a career option so that they can both prepare for civil services exams while undertaking undergraduate courses. The aspirants had been handpicked from 16 different departments of the college who are academically sound and are desirous of joining the Civil Services.

Apart from faculty members, the classes were conducted by many dignitaries from the district administration, including Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara. Deka also inaugurated the workshop.

Dr. Ashraful Amin, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rituparna Das, Assistant Commissioner, Rupjyoti Kalita, DSP(HQ), Goalpara and Sushant Singh, Additional SP, Dhubri, are some of the other dignitaries who guided the aspirants.

Bhadra IAS Academy, a reputed Guwahati-based coaching institute, also offered a day-long session for the benefit of aspirants. Dr. Jayanta Kr Brahma, assistant professor and coordinator of Career Counseling and Guidance Cell, Goalpara College, while talking to this correspondent, expressed satisfaction that the workshop had been a productive and result-oriented one.
