SILCHAR: A one day workshop on a joint action plan on 'Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse among Children and Illicit Trafficking' was held at the auditorium of Barak Hindi Sahitya Samiti, Silchar, Cachar district. It was organized by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in collaboration with Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights facilitated by Seva Bharati, Purbanchal, Assam aimed to empower all the district level stakeholders in Cachar district on the joint action plan prepared jointly by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The workshop started with a welcome address by Rajib Roy (ACS), District Development Commissioner of Cachar district and Saswati Som District Social Welfare Officer spoke on behalf of the Cachar district administration followed by felicitation by Bikram Bhagabati, Coordinator of Seva Bharati Purbanchal. In the technical session Ajoy Kumar Dutta, Member of Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights spoke on the joint action plan and various issues related to child rights.
He requested all the stakeholders of the joint action plan to work hand-in-hand to eradicate drugs and substance abuse among children of the district. Thereafter, Khagen Kalita, Technical Consultant of ASCPCR presented a presentation on the joint action plan, stated a press release.
