RANGIA: World Bank Vice President Martin Raiser, Country Director Dr Augeste Tone, Senior Agriculture Specialist Dr Andreu, Financial specialist Mohan Gopalkrishan, Communication Advisor Sudeep Mazumder along with Senior Fishery Departmental Officer and Dr Sanjay Sarma, Fishery Co-ordinator of World Bank financed project APART, specialists Dr Dhrubajyoti Sharma and Prabin Bharali visited the Fish Seed Bank under Uttaran Farmer Producer Company at Rangia on Monday.
After their arrival, the members of the Uttaran Farmer Producer Company felicitated the representatives of the World Bank traditionally with phulam gamosa. They visited the entire project and took stock of the firm which is financed by World Bank under Project APART.
Dr Sanjay Sarma, Fishery Co-ordinator, showed them the Fish Seed Bank, organic firming, duck farm, vermi-compose project, lemon cultivation, dry fish project and other organic vegetables. The representatives of the World Bank were overwhelmed to see the Assam Lemon. They also interacted with the beneficiaries.
Almost a thousand family members are dependent on the farm for their livelihood. The representatives were highly pleased and expressed their satisfaction at the hospitality of the Assamese people and the maintenance of the farm. SDO Civil Rangia, Javeer Rahul Suresh, Executive Magistrate Amlan Jyoti Baishya and OC Bhaskar Malla Patowary accompanied the team.
