KALAIGAON: The Piramal Foundation team of Udalguri launched the 'Mukto Akash' project on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Udalguri, in cooperation with the Udalguri district administration.
The project 'Mukto Akash' was also supported by the Citizens Foundation, RBM EDUTECH India Pvt. Ltd. under the leadership of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) and other donors.
Under this project, on Tuesday, the Piramal Foundation organized an awareness programme on the importance of menstrual health and hygiene and sanitary pad donation. The drive was conducted in the premises of schools like Balipara Krishak Mukti High School, Uttar Bhehguri ME School and Kalaigaon Adarsha High School in Kalaigaon in Udalguri district for awareness of adolescent girls.
On the occasion, the Piramal Foundation team discussed the importance of menstrual health and hygiene, interacted with the adolescent girls regarding their menstrual health-related problems, stigmas, superstition, traditional rules and regulations related with it. The participants of the programme also expressed their views.
After that, Piramal Foundation distributed 210 sanitary pads among 210 adolescent girls of schools and nearby areas of Kailaigaon. Several officials of health department like ANM, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Block Health Inspector, Field Officer of Kalaigaon Block along with headmasters and teachers of the three schools took part in this programme.
