BILASIPARA: World Red Cross Day was observed at Bilasipara in the premises of Dr. BR Ambedkar Bhavan on Wednesday under the aegis of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Bilasipara district branch.
In this connection, the flag of the Red Cross Society was hoisted by Dr Kanu Lal Das, chairman of IRCS, Bilasipara district branch in the morning. Hridayananda Das, vice-president of IRCS, Bilasipara district branch, garlanded the portrait of Sir Jean Henry Dunant, the father of the Red Cross Society, followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Dr Kanu Lal Das. First aid box with necessary instruments and medicines were given to the principal of Rokakhata HS School for the use of the students and staff of the school.
A seminar was also held on the topic ‘What do you love about Red Cross’ with Dayal Paul as moderator. Dr. Kanu Lal Das delivered the welcome address. Dr. Haricharan Das, librarian, Bilasipara College, Hridyannda Das, former Principal of Bilasipara Public HS School and Kalyan Chakraborty delivered a lecture on the topic as resource persons.
A free dental check-up camp and a blood donors registration camp were also held where a large number of interested youths registered their names for blood donation. Apart from this, fruits were distributed among patients in the Bilasipara State Dispensary under the leadership of Charles Choudhary.
