World Water Day celebrated in Assam

JAMUGURIHAT: The Zoology department of THB College celebrated World Water Day in the college premises on Monday with Dr. Sanjib Upadhayay, Head of the Zoology department, in the chair.

Dr. Tulshi Upadhaya, Head of the Department of Botany, graced the occasion as a resource person and briefed about the significance of celebration of this special day. Abhishek Hazarika, student of the department, addressed the gathering while Manisha Das and Neha Das, assistant professors of the college, addressed the gathering and highlighted major issues related to water conservation.

TEZPUR: On the occasion of World Water Day, the students of Assam Agricultural University under RAWEP, 2021, Sonitpur organized a meeting at Napaam sapori village.

The meeting was presided by Dr P.C Deka, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Sonitpur, in presence of more than 20 farmers. To create awareness on value and conservation of water, the students performed method demonstration on three topics - rain water harvesting, Hydroponics and drip irrigation system using various models and charts. Through the performed activities, the students showed how the villagers can conserve water and cut down their expenses used for agricultural irrigation by using these modern techniques. Also an extempore speech competition was organized among the students to make the event more interactive.
