WPT&BC Minister Chandan Brahma reviews COVID-19 preparedness

Kokrajhar: Minister for Welfare of Plains Tribe and Backward Classes ( WPT&BC) and Tourism and in-charge, Chirang district Chandan Brahma on Friday reviewed the COVID-19 preparedness by the district administration. Presiding over the meeting, the minister took overall report on the steps being taken by the district administration for the prevention of outbreak of coronavirus in the district.

He asked the Executive Magistrates present in the meeting to frequently visit at their designated areas to ensure whether lockdown was completely observed in the district for the safety of public and to know the problems of the public during this period.

As such, he ordered the officials of Health and Family Welfare department to conduct medical screening of all the people recently coming back from other states and the Food and Civil Supply officials to arrange to keep sufficient essential foodstuff in their stock to meet the requirements of emergency arising due to pandemic COVID-19 and in the interest of public.

In the meeting, he appealed all the public to stay indoors, avoid gathering at public places, maintain social distancing and to implement all the other advisories and instructions issued by the government for the safety of all. It may be stated that as on today, the health department completed screening 5,132 persons and kept for observation at home 817 suspected people in the district.
