Xatra Commission visits Barpeta Xatra and Kaljhar Xatra

BARPETA: The Xatra Commission Chairman MLA Pradip Hazarika along with its members and MLAs Mrinal Saikia and Rupak Sarmah visited Patbaushi Xatra, Sri Sri Sankardev Than, Barpeta Xatra and Kaljhar Xatra on Saturday.

The Xatra Commission visited the district to take stock of the xatras' conditions, scope for improvement and to see if there is encroachment or not. They interacted with the xatra authorities, locals as well as the alleged encroachers. Officials' records also have been sought from the district authorities.

The State government formed this commission to ascertain the landed property of xatras, their landed property under encroachment and the identities of the encroachers.

ADC Lakhimi Dutta, ACS accompanied the Xatra Commission during the visit. Pranjal Boruah, Circle Officer Barpeta and Nimashree Dauka, Assistant Commissioner of Barpeta were also present during the visit.
