Guwahati: Assamese singing sensation Zubeen Garg has paid a heartful tribute to late singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, who unexpectedly passed away on June 1.

His sudden demise has left his admirers in a state of shock and condolences began to pour in from the music and film industry.

Mourning KK's sudden death, Zubeen took to social media to post a video, where he paid a heartful tribute to his late friend and one of India's finest singers.

Zubeen can be seen performing KK's iconic song "Zara Sa" from the film Jannat in the video.

Garg captioned his post and wrote, "We knew each other through music. We made friends through music. And when he is gone, all that remains is his music."

"This is the least I could do in your memory, brother! I know for sure – generations to come shall keep your music alive in their hearts and lips!" he added.

"This is my tribute to one of the greatest singers of our generation – the one and only KK. Love, Zubeen", he further added.

Notably, Zubeen Garg sang around three songs alongside KK and he confessed that he was very close to KK and added that the two of them shared a good bond with each other.

Garg revealed that KK was supposed to visit Assam later this year to attend his birthday in November.

Zubeen went on to say that he performed together with KK in his first international show in Sri Lanka.

The 54-year-old singer suddenly fell ill while performing at a live concert in Kolkata on May 31 and was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
