Zubeen stands strong against Govt over CAA, Posts picture of deceased Abdul Amin

Guwahati: Amid the ongoing protests against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act-2019 (CAA), the Artistes Society of Assam continued their democratic protest supported by All Assam Students’ Union in Guwahati for the past few days.

Several artistes including leading actress of Assamese Film Industry Barsha Rani Bikhoya, Singer Zubeen Garg, Singer/Composer Manas Robin among others have already made their stand clear stating that they would continue with their democratic protest until the contentious law is scrapped.

Notwithstanding the risk of communal disharmony due to the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, both the Assamese and the Bengali communities of the Brahmaputra valley stand united against the Central legislation.

Meanwhile, singing sensation Zubeen Garg expressed his grievances against the Government of Assam by posting a photograph of deceased Abdul Amin in social media who succumbed to his injury at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) during a police firing in Guwahati recently.

Also, speaking to The Sentinel Digital in this regard, Zubeen Garg’s wife Garima Saikia Garg said, “Our democratic protest against the contentious CAA-2019 will continue. We are focused and our intention is very clear i.e we won’t accept CAA-2019 on any condition. The Artistes association also appeals to the people of Guwahati to join in the ‘Aaidya Shardha’ funeral ceremony of Hatigaon’s Sam Stafford on coming Sunday who died in a police firing in Guwahati violence.”
