SILCHAR: A ten-member delegation of Barak Valley Coordination Committee will meet Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, who is reaching Guwahati on Sunday. This was revealed by Kabindra Purkayastha, senior most BJP leader, at a press-briefing at the party headquarters here today. He said the discussion would centre round the NRC left outs, most of them being Bengalis. A memorandum would be submitted to him on the post NRC situation.

Purkayastha pointed out NRC which entailed an expenditure of Rs 1600 crore and huge human resources was a damp squib. It failed to be error free. The victims of partition and those persecuted in Bangladesh, erstwhile East Pakistan, have been left out of the final list. But, the aliens could make their entry into the list by adopting all sorts of questionable methods. Worst of all, refugee certificates have not been accepted by the local NRC officials at the directive of Prateek Hajela who all along acted like a dictator.

Hindu Bengali refugees, in particular, have become the casualty of this faulty NRC, Purkayastha added to say. We would also demand implementation of the twin notifications of September 7, 2015 in Assam for the protection of Hindu Bengali refugees. If the Gazette Notifications could become effective in Gujrat, Punjab and Rajasthan, why not in Assam? Purkayastha said BJP is committed to protect the Hindus who have reposed full faith in it and supported the party all along. He at the same time said our party wants protection of culture, tradition and identity of indigenous people of the State. There can also be no dispute about the implementation of Clause 6 of Assam Accord, Purkayastha pointed out.
